Discussion Topics

How does an organisation identify which part of the business to prioritise for innovation? How do you rank business priorities? Who's involved in this decision making process? What's required prior to starting a project?

Once you've identified a problem statement, what next? How do you go about identifying whether the solution will come from internal or external sources? If internal, what are the challenges? If external, how does this process look, and what are the challenges that come with it?

If you're engaging or investing in an external solution, what are the criteria they have to fulfil to be considered? What are the different methods to engage external solutions - direct customer engagement, corporate venture? If Corporate Venture, talk us through the considerations that come with this from both sides, the corporate and the startup? If a startup, how should they look to enter commercial negotiations with the corporate?

It's a common misconception that once a corporate venture unit has invested in an early stage company that integrating the solution into the parent organisation comes naturally, whereas the reality is quite different. What are some of the key challenges post investment around adoption and integration? How much of this is process orientated and how much is people/change management?
